How to add patches?

Hi,

I used to have a ps3 running on 3.41 firmware and one running on the latest firmware. I would use the old method of transfering data from one ps3 to another.

Now I only have one ps3 running on the latest software. Is there a way of me replacing the newest mw2 patch with a modded one? A link for a tut would be nice if it's possible.
