Pokémon Go Moltres Day in August or September?
Articuno Day followed the big European event. Zapdos Day followed the big North Americans event. So, the general assumption is Moltres Day will follow the big Asian event: Pokémon GO Safari Zone from Yokosuka, Japan, from August 29 to September 2.
No official confirmation yet though!
Alolan Forms available to catch and hatch
- Alolan Rattata is currently available in the wild (Exeggutor, Diglett, and Geodude were at one point and may still be, but at ultra-rare levels).
- Alolan Vulpix, Grimer, Sandshrew, Rattata, Meowth, Rattata, Digeltt, and Geodude are currently hatching from the 7 KM Eggs available from Friendship Gifts.
- Alolan Exeggutor, Raichu, and Marowak are currently available as Raid Bosses.
No word yet on whether this is for a limited time only or the new normal, so catch and hatch 'em while you can.
Upcoming Pokémon Go Events
Pokémon Go Eevee Community Day on August 11 and August 12
The August Community Day in Pokémon Go is actually Days, plural, and will feature Eevee. Not only does Eevee already have five evolutions from Gen 1 and Gen 2, but two more coming in Gen 4, but Eevee is being featured in the upcoming Pokémon Let's Go game for the Nintendo Switch.
3-hour Lures will be in effect, as usual, and 3x catch Stardust will be making a comeback. No word yet on the special move.
Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in Yokosuka, Japan, from August 29 to September 2
Pokémon Go has finally revealed the last of its big summer events and, as expected, it's all about Japan:
Yokosuka is an amazing city known for its fondness for American culture and its beautiful nature. Three city parks (Mikasa, Verny, and Kurihama) will be participating in this special event. Trainers will be able to find Pokémon not normally seen in Japan, such as the Grass- and Flying-type Pokémon Tropius, Unown, and more! While there will be many exciting Pokémon to catch throughout the event, Raid Battles will not be available at the event locations.
The Pokémon GO Safari Zone in Yokosuka is a free event, but those who wish to attend will need to apply through Yokosuka City's special website. Applications open Friday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m. JST and close Friday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. JST, so don't delay if you're interested in attending! If applications exceed the capacity of the event, a drawing will be held by Yokosuka City to select the attendees. If selected, Trainers will receive a ticket containing a 2D barcode. Note that Trainers without a ticket will not encounter Pokémon at the event locations.
The Yokosuka Pokémon GO Safari Zone event will be held over the course of five days, but gameplay is designed to be a single-day experience. In order to give as many Trainers as possible the chance to take part, participation is limited to the day listed on each ticket. If a Trainer somehow manages to obtain multiple tickets, they will only be able to find special Pokémon on the day the first ticket is claimed.
In celebration of the Yokosuka Pokémon GO Safari Zone event, Pokémon such as Feebas and Torchic will be found more often throughout Japan. Additionally, Wingull will appear more frequently worldwide, and lucky Trainers may even encounter its Shiny form! To top it off, Professor Willow's Global Challenge will take place on September 1 and 2, giving Trainers all over the world the opportunity to unlock incredible bonuses while they take part in this special event.
2018 Pokémon Go Events: The potentials!
Based on past events, there are a few guesses we can make about future events. First, regional holidays don't mean regional events. Halloween isn't an internationally observed occasion but the event was worldwide. U.S. Thanksgiving is only celebrated in the U.S., and while it was an event in 2016 it gave way to the Global Catch Challenge in 2017.
Also, Pokémon Go has multiple levers to pull. The game can increase rewards, like candy, XP, and stardust. It can decrease requirements, like walking distance. It can increase spawn rates for all or specific Pokémon, like pink colored Pokémon or water-types, and create limited edition Pokémon just for events, like Party Hat Pikachu. It can also give away items or increase their duration, like 1-use Incubators or 8-hour Lures.
Pokémon Go can have events to aid in charitable causes, like the highly localized tsunami-relief event in Japan that featured Lapras or Snorlax exclusively for a week. There was also an event simply to promote the new streaks and bonuses. So, if they want to maintain momentum and there's too long a gap between occasions, Pokémon Go can invent their own. And they will want to, if they want to keep their momentum that they have built up the last 2 years going forward!
